General Questions
How can I book a taxi?
You can book through our website, mobile app, or by calling our 24/7 office. Some partner locations also provide free phones that connect directly to us.
If I pre-book a taxi, how long will the driver wait for me if I’m running late?
Our drivers will wait up to 5 minutes after the scheduled pick-up time. If you’re delayed, please contact us as soon as possible to avoid the driver leaving, additional charges may apply.
If I request a certain driver, will I be allocated them?
We do our best to honor driver requests, but availability depends on the driver’s schedule and location at the time of your booking.
Why do I need to prepay when booking outside of the bay?
Prepayment secures your booking for longer journeys and ensures a suitable vehicle is allocated. It also minimizes no-shows for our drivers.
How much will my trip be?
If you’d like to know the cost of your journey upfront, just ask for a fixed price when booking. Once agreed, the price will not vary unless there are changes to the journey or significant delays caused by the passenger.
Do you offer regular school-run services?
Yes, we provide school-run services for children. All our drivers are DBS-checked, ensuring the highest level of safety and security. Please contact chris@pricefirsttaxis.com to discuss your requirements.
Fixed Prices
What is a fixed-price taxi?
A fixed price taxi is a fare that we agree upon in advance when you request a price or a fixed fare. Once agreed, this price will not change as long as the customer is ready and gets into the taxi promptly at the scheduled time.
Does the fixed price include waiting time?
A fixed price includes the standard 5 minutes waiting time for pickup. However, additional waiting time beyond this may incur extra charges, which will be communicated clearly.
What happens if I’m late for a fixed price taxi?
If you’re not ready when the driver arrives, additional waiting charges may apply. To ensure the fixed price remains valid, we recommend being on time for your pickup.
Why wasn’t I offered a fixed price?
While we aim to provide fixed prices whenever possible, this is at the discretion of the on-shift staff. If there are significant delays, roadworks, or other factors that could impact the journey time, fixed prices may not be available at the time of booking. Please note that fixed pricing is a promotional service and is not guaranteed for all bookings.
Vehicle Options
Do you guarantee multi-seater bookings?
While we aim to provide multi-seater vehicles when requested, availability cannot always be guaranteed. For best results, please book in advance and call our office to confirm. Our office team will be able to let you know if your trip will be guaranteed.
Do you provide booster or baby seats?
For safety, we recommend customers bring their own child seats. If you’re unable to, if the child is under 3 years of age, the child is required to sit in the rear of the vehicle on a lap of a responsible adult with the seat belt around the adult and not the child. If the child is 3 and over the child may sit in the rear of the vehicle with the seat belt around the child.
If my child is under 3, can 5 of us travel in a 4-seater taxi?
No, by law, a 4-passenger vehicle is only permitted to carry up to 4 passengers, regardless of the child’s age. Even though a child under 3 may not require a seatbelt, the driver must comply with legal and insurance requirements, which mandate that there must be a free seat available for every passenger.
Safety and Security
Are your drivers DBS-checked?
Yes, all our drivers undergo an enhanced DBS check and are fully licensed by the Torbay council. The vehicles are also regularly inspected to ensure safety and compliance.
What measures are in place to ensure passenger safety?
In addition to DBS-checked drivers and regular vehicle inspections, we have GPS tracking in place and offer 24/7 passenger support. Passengers receive a text notification when the driver is on their way to the pickup point. This message includes a shareable link with the driver’s details and live GPS tracking, allowing friends and family to monitor the journey for the duration of the hire.
Special Services
Do you offer delivery services?
Yes, we provide delivery services for prescriptions, shopping, and small parcels. Contact us for more information.
Do you carry animals in your cars?
Yes, we allow pets in our cars. Please inform us in advance so we can allocate a pet-friendly vehicle. Service animals are always welcome.
Is there an additional charge for transporting animals?
Yes, we charge an additional £2.50 per hire to transport a dog. However, service dogs are exempt from this charge. All other animals can be transported free of charge.
Pricing and Charges
Are airport parking charges included in the price?
Yes!
What is your Wait & Return (W&R) policy?
Wait and returns are charged at the standard rate with waiting time charged at 10p per 20 seconds.
Do you charge a spoilage fee?
Yes, a spoilage charge will be applied if a passenger causes any mess that requires the vehicle to be cleaned before it can be used again. This ensures fairness to other customers and drivers. The cost of £50 will cover the drivers costs incurred and loss of earnings for time taken to clean.
Lost Property
What should I do if I leave something in the taxi?
Contact our office as soon as possible with details of your trip, and we’ll do our best to locate your item. Lost property is stored securely at our office for collection.
Complaints
How do I make a complaint?
Please contact us via email or phone with details of your complaint. We aim to resolve issues within 3-5 working days. Complex cases may take longer, but we will keep you updated throughout the process.
Other Policies
Do you accept bookings for unaccompanied children?
For safety reasons, we require all children under 11 to be accompanied by an adult.
What types of licenses do your drivers hold?
All our drivers hold private hire or hackney carriage licenses issued by the local council.
